Under The Same Sun

Caring about the environment is not just for the free loving hippies of the 70’s anymore. We must all do what we can to use our earths resources as wisely as possible, because let’s face it, it effects all of us.

With a background in PR and Film, we dived in and viewed the fashion industry with eyes of a newborn. The complexity of aligning fashion with sustainability hit us like a brick wall. Producing materials and products will always have an impact – the challenge is to minimise it as much as possible.

With determination and some pretty bold moves we are now proud to offer products with minimum impact - from timeless cuts, to decisions in choosing the right supplier, building long-term and trusted business
relationships with our suppliers and building a product with good quality leaving as little waste as possible.

Under The Same Sun Eco-friendly yoga, surf and beach wear proves that you don't have to compromise on style to go green.

Under The Same Sun work 100% with low impact textiles such as recycled polyester,
tencel, and organic leather.

Newlife™ premium polyester - made of recycled plastic bottles
Under The Same Sun’s custom made fabric is made of Newlife™ Premium Recycled Polyester. Recycled polyester is made from recycled water bottles and uses 53% less energy and water, and produces 54.6% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than regular polyester. Recycling polyester fabrics decrease environmental impact and less crude oil is taken from earth’s resources – which are already very limited. It also cuts down on energy use, chemical use, waste material and toxic emissions and makes less soil, water and air pollution. Each pair of our leggings recycles approximately 25 plastic bottles.

Under The Same Sun's recycled polyester is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified.

The OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is an independent testing and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate and end products at all stages of production. Testing for harmful substances includes:

  • illegal substances
  • legally regulated substances
  • known harmful (but not legally regulated) chemicals
  • as well as parameters for health care

In their entirety the requirements clearly exceed existing national legislation.

Under The Same Sun’s Tank Tops is made of 100% Tencel®. Tencel® is a good semisynthetic alternative to knitted/woven viscose and conventional cotton blends. Tencel are registered as a trademark by Lenzing AG, an Austrian company marketing several brands of cellulose-synthetic fibre products. It is spun by reconstituting cellulose, often taken from the beech or eucalyptus tree. This procedure needs much less use of water, land, synthetic fertilizers and chemicals than both viscose and conventional cotton. Results in colour fastness, dyeing, shrinkage and fading are just as good as cotton. And as it’s made out of wood pulp, it’s both biodegradable and recyclable.

Renew Prime
Renew Prime is a ”green”, bi-elastic techno-fabric, made of Econyl, polyamide yarn made of 100% recycled material. The high percentage of LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ ensures a perfect fit and a higher shape retention over time, in addition to a correct muscular compression and an excellent power. Renew Prime is made in Italy and the composition is 65% Recycled polyamide and 35% Elastane. Benifits of the fabric: UV protection, pilling resistan, breathalbe, perfect fit and excellent coverage.
